Borno Resettles Over 1 Million People in 4 Years
The Borno state government has resettled over one million displaced persons back to their communities.
The outgoing Director General State Emergency Management Agency SEMA Hajiya Ya Bawa Kolo stated this while handing over affairs of the Agency to a Director in the Agency held in Maiduguri.
This is sequel to the dissolution of Heads of Commissions, Boards, Agencies and Parastatals by Governor Babagana Zulum.
Hajiya Ya Bawa said SEMA with support of other organisations and development partners have successfully repatriated over three thousand Nigerian refugees from neighbouring countries of Chad, Niger and Cameroon back to the state.
“I want to express gratitude to Almighty Allah and Governor Babagana Zulum for the opportunity to serve as Chief Executive of SEMA for the past five years. Borno SEMA is in the global map because of its activities and intervention ” Hajiya Kolo remarked.
According to her, the Agency is well positioned to handle any form of disaster or emergency in the state.
Hajiya Ya Bawa Kolo identified some of the challenges she encountered in the last five years to include inadequate funding and lack of effective coordination of humanitarian activities where she commended staff for their resilience and commitment to duty.
Responding, the acting DG who is also the Director Finance and Account Alhaji Ibrahim Kaumi promised to continue from where she stopped.
