Ganduje explains why Buhari is still relevant to APC, nation.
From Cyril Mbah, Abuja.
National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has explained that Monday's visit to immediate-past President, Mohammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina state was meant to show solidarity and celebrate with the former president on his contributions to the nation's development in the past 63 years in his capacity as an elder and a leader in the party.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the visit, which was undertaken in company of other NWC members, Ganduje said former President Buhari was still relevant in the nation's political evolution pointing out that the visit was to formally introduce the new APC leadership to Buhari and rejoice with him on Nigeria's 63rd Independence anniversary .
Dr. Ganduje said: "It is mainly to introduce the newly constituted National Working Committee, (NWC) of our great party and also to show him solidarity and thank him for what he has done for the country in the period of eight years. "The visit was also meant to congratulate him on the Independence Day celebration. Nigeria gained 63 years of development for which eight years must be apportioned to his administration. That was why we were in Daura at his residence and we thank him for receiving us."
When Ganduje was asked for his reaction to APC victories in some of the cases concluded by election tribunals, the National Chairman waived the subject off but said: "Of course, seeing is believing and definitely we are happy and comfortable but that is not enough.
"We have three off-season elections coming up in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo. Insha-Allah, we will also win these elections. So,we are happy with the development."
Ganduje led NWC members on a courtesy visit to the former President in his home town, in Daura on Monday but the National Chairman and other NWC members in his entourage have since returned to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
