The Nigerian Army says all arrangements have been made to review operational strategies in different theaters of operations across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The review will be done during the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2024 at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja, from Monday to Thursday next week.
The conference, according to the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, will be chaired by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, provides a pivotal platform for evaluating the Nigerian Army’s kinetic and non-kinetic operations, with a strong focus on ensuring operational effectiveness.
The conference aims to highlight successes, address challenges, and propose strategies to further enhance the Nigerian Army’s operational efficiency. A significant feature of this year’s conference will be the formulation of a strategic roadmap for 2025. This forward-thinking initiative will define clear objectives and set projections to guide the Nigerian Army’s response to Nigeria’s diverse security challenges.
The event will serve as a key forum for the Nigerian Army’s leadership and participants to review the implementation of operations, training programs, and strategic initiatives aligned with its constitutional mandate. Participants will conduct in-depth analyses of ongoing counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, anti-banditry, and other security operations.
The conference will also feature detailed presentations on training, administration, logistics, and other key areas as outlined in the Nigerian Army’s Forecast of Events. These presentations aim to showcase current achievements while introducing innovative strategies to strengthen the Nigerian Army’s capabilities. Discussions will address logistical support, operational deployments, and related areas, focusing on optimizing operational efficiency and improving troop morale through sound administration. Additionally, the event will include the presentation of Group Life Insurance benefits to the families of fallen heroes.
The conference will bring together the Nigerian Army’s top leadership, including Principal Staff Officers, Corps Commanders, Formation Commanders, Operations Commanders, and Commandants of Nigerian Army Schools and Tri-service Institutions. Selected senior officers from critical Tri-service appointments will also participate, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas to enhance the Nigerian Army’s strategic and operational framework for 2025.
The event will culminate with the commissioning of the Nigerian Army Welfare Scheme project in Idu, Abuja, under the Affordable Housing Ownership Options for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) initiative.
Nwachukwu said the conference presents a veritable platform for the assessment of the Nigerian Army’s kinetic and non-kinetic operations with special focus on evaluating the commitment of the army to maintaining operational effectiveness.
