Seeking Divine Guidance In This Troubled Time
By Taiye Olaniyi
This troubled time, humanity daily gets worried and at the crossroads of life.
There are confusions everywhere and no one seems to know what exactly could be happening and why the world of today is getting daily atrophied and seemingly without iota of solution to the societal and global order.
Our world leaders and those of us followers have numerously been disappointed over issues of religious, political, economic and social matters to such an extent that every desire and move for a stable world eventually gets distabilized.
While describing our troubled world Bob Marley says there are so much troubles in this world. An excerpt of this troubled time is here related for us all to seek guidance from the Divine in whatever is our own little ways.
Bob Marley exclaimed: bomb, bomb! bomb, bomb, bomb!)
Now I know the time has come (bomb, bomb, bomb! bomb, bomb, bomb!)
What goes on up is coming on down (bomb, bomb, bomb! bomb, bomb, bomb!)
Goes around and comes around (bomb, bomb, bomb! bomb, bomb, bomb!)
So much trouble in the world
So much trouble in the world
So much trouble in the world
There is so much trouble (so much trouble in the world)
There is so much trouble
There is so much trouble (so much in the world).
Despite all the troubles in the world and the world around us as mystical students, we should seek guidance from the Divine by "having a personal and intimate awareness of God within the domain of self." Why such an attempt? Because as Job once affirmed while facing his numerous ordeals of life, there is that assistance and assurance of divine guidance no matter what the trouble is. According to him:
"The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life."
With life mysteries and miseries around us we need to be a "Mystic Man." According to Peter McIntosh while reflecting on the unpleasant happenings around humanity in the past, present and likely the future, he condemned the negative inclines many subject themselves to when battling with the obstacles of life. Such as taking and abuse of hard drugs and similar substances in order to be high and thus forget the pains inherent in the world.
He described himself as a Mystic,..."Cause I'm a man of the past
And I'm living in the present
And I'm walking in the future
Stepping in the future
Man of the past
And I'm living
And I'm walking in the future
Stepping in the future".
What a challenge to and for us all when atimes some join the unenlightened to seeking guidance from outside themselves thus reverencing the prophets, sorcerers and other hierarchy of religious personages.
Is it not a truism that when we seek guidance from the Divine within us, the Divine would move towards us? Think about it.
In self resides the potency of the omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience of the Divine. In your being, in my being and in our beings the true guidance is sought and be derived from the Divine.
If there is no other way to experience joy, peace of mind and happiness than in one's self even in this troubled time it is therefore for us all to always send our consciousness inwards so as to find guidance from the Master within.
May the Divine essence of the Cosmic infuse our beings and cleanse us of all impurities of mind and body so that we can attune and be guided in Light, Life and Love. So Mote It Be.
