Yusuf Dankofa, professor of law, dies at 61

Yusuf Dankofa, a professor of law, is dead.
Dankofa was said to have died in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 61.
A source told TheCable that Dankofa has been buried in Kaduna in accordance with Islamic rites.
He was among the legal team that represented Atiku Abubakar, the former vice-president, in the litigation challenging the 2019 electoral victory of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dankofa joined the faculty of law, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), as an assistant lecturer in 1989 and rose to the position of senior lecturer in 2010.
He was head of the department of public law at ABU between 2010 and 2014.
He was promoted to the rank of associate professor of law in 2013 and achieved the status of full professor of law in 2015.
He was the deputy dean of law from 2012 to 2016.
In a statement mourning Dankofa, the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch, said the deceased “fearlessly advocated for reforms that empowered citizens and held authorities accountable”.
